Stars

Making way through the galaxy to a distant patch of midnight sky

Call it the sea of a billion lights, because it is. Each night, the heavens cast down their finest treasures in a multitude of pinpoints that ripple on the ocean surface. The stars are so close, we practically sail through them. I imagine this sea, the one above us, as an equally navigable entity.  Currently, making way through the galaxy to a distant patch of midnight sky.

STARS

Peer from the bowsprit and see the worlds around yourself
Sky and Sea bounded by the same extent of this horizon
Two hemispheres we discover
One above and one below, equally

We are star travelling
Just as we are sea navigators
A wave is risen and a wave is fallen
Along that same edge

A star is born and a star is dead
Still unforgotten
A voyage of the heavens
Of celestial bodies

We are celestial beings
Made of starstuff

Look out from the heavens
Spot from the gallows
Our ship as she goes
As we go slicing the divide

Between ocean and sky

Sail away now,
Star crossing sailors
